The Railway Industry Association (RIA) has welcomed the appointment of the new Chair of Transport for the North (TfN).
Lord Patrick McLoughlin CH has been appointed into the role following a meeting conducted by the TfN board today.
Lord McLoughlin is the former Member of Parliament for West Derbyshire and Derbyshire Dales and was Secretary of State for Transport from September 2012 to July 2016.
Outside of politics Lord McLoughlin serves as the Chairman of Visit Britain and was appointed Chairman of Airlines UK in July 2021.
Justin Moss, Chair of RIA North spoke on today’s appointment and commented on RIA’s eagerness to work with Lord McLoughlin.
Mr Moss said: “The Railway Industry Association and its members congratulate Lord McLoughlin on his appointment as Transport for the North Chair.
“Lord McLoughlin is a strong advocate of the railway supply chain, having worked with the industry as Transport Secretary and as a champion of the industry in Parliament.
“We look forward to working with him at this important time for the rail sector, following the publication of the Integrated Rail Plan.”
