Technology companies are set to battle it out to win access to industry data and resources to bring their products and services to fruition, through the Future Labs project.
Four train operators have come together to invite startups to the scheme and demonstrate their innovations in real-world environments over a 12-week period, where they will also get access to subject matter experts and mentors.
The operators include:
“Future Labs is all about transforming the rail industry through open, pioneering and proven innovation,” said a spokesperson on behalf of all four of the operators.
The spokesperson continued: “By giving technology startups access to live environments and expert mentorship they can test their proposed solutions in a real-world environment.
“Ultimately, this is all about advancing the passenger and employee experience as well as supporting performance and operational excellence.”
The deadline for applications to the programme is Sunday 16 June.
Amygda is an AI platform that found breakthrough success in 2022 after going through the Future Labs scheme.
Its CEO and founder, Faizan Patankar, described the access to live environments as “invaluable” throughout the project.
He added: “The unique opportunity to generate our own insights was instrumental in building an understanding of the nuances of real-world data capture.
“Given the excellent experience it was to work with rail experts, the expanded scale of the programme with four operators is a really exciting opportunity for innovators looking to disrupt an industry.”
Suppliers also have the chance to gain access to an exclusive marketplace of buyers, including Network Rail, HS2, Transport for London, train operating companies, and more at TransCity Rail. Don’t miss out on your chance to attend TransCity South at Twickenham Stadium in London during July.
