Siemens Mobility and Swedish rail operator Snälltåget have announced that they will be rolling out S3 Passenger – a pricing, inventory and reservation system across the operators network.
In a phased approach for implementation, Snälltåget will be adding capabilities and functionalities in the months after going live with the software, however they will be utilising the cross-operator ticketing functionality which helps customers when booking long-distance trips. Snälltåget currently run long-distance trips from Malmo to Stockholm as well as a night time service between Stockholm and Berlin.
S3 Passenger, which was originally developed by Sqills, a subsidiary of Siemens Mobility is a modular platform, able to scale with the business and is currently used in 10 countries. It’s platform is designed to give better passenger experience when booking digitally but also feed into the operators inventory system.
The implementation of S3 Passenger strengthens the relationship between Snälltåget AND Siemens Mobility after the operator utilised Vectron Locomotive, which Siemens Mobility maintains five of the locomotives at Snälltåget’s depot in Malmo.
Kristina Nyquist, CEO Siemens Mobility Sweden said: “We are delighted to continue to support Snälltåget not only with our market-leading Vectron locomotives and reliable maintenance services but also by combining the real and the digital world,”
Marco Andersson, Snälltåget head of sales said: “Our mission is to give our customers a pleasant and affordable journey and Sqills definitely helps us realise that going forward. From dynamic pricing to adjust for capacity to the fact that night trains are supported out-of-the-box, those are just a few instances that highlight the flexibility of S3 Passenger.”
S3 Passenger has recently been implemented by operators in North America and Europe, including iryo in Spain, SNCF which is based in France, and Brightline in the United States.
