Network Rail introduce new unlimited WiFi for passengers at Birmingham New Street station.
The unlimited WiFi at Birmingham New Street is fast enough to support streaming and video calls.
The upgraded service provided by Network Rail uses the latest technology which means passengers can connect several devices without having to log in or create an account.
Network Rail’s service is certified as ‘Friendly WiFi’ meaning it is complaint with the Government’s safe filtering standards for the public and is child friendly.
The free connection has been launched following feedback from railway passengers.
Steven Ireland, Head of stations and security for Network Rail’s Central route has encouraged passengers to take advantage of the new service.
Mr Ireland said: “Customers have told us to enhance and improve things for them and free WiFi was a must - so, we’ve provided it.
“I’d urge anyone to take advantage of the new reliable and secure service when travelling through the station.
“So, we’re delighted to introduce free and fast Wi-Fi at Birmingham New Street station.
“The new Wi-Fi will allow customers to remain connected with friends and family as we return to the railway, looking forward to Christmas and the Commonwealth Games next year.”
The new WiFi service will be rolled out in Network Rail station across the UK.
Network Rail plan to have the 19 biggest stations connected by the end of 2021.
