Agility Trains has announced the appointment of Tom Hawkesworth as the new CEO, effective 1 May 2025. Tom brings over eight years of experience from Hitachi Rail, where he most recently served as Senior Director of Investment Management. In this role, he demonstrated a strong track record in the rail sector, contributing to various Hitachi-backed rail ventures and offering strategic advice.
Tom also represented Hitachi’s equity interests as the nominated Director for the Agility Group companies and other Hitachi-backed projects, including Rock Rail East Midlands, Connect 6ix, and Mobilinx. Prior to his tenure at Hitachi, Tom spent over a decade at the global defense company Leonardo.
Tom succeeds James Le Couilliard, who is stepping down to pursue a portfolio career after leading Agility for over four years. James played a pivotal role in establishing Agility Trains as the service provider for the major LNER and GWR Inter-city fleets. He will collaborate closely with Tom in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition before his departure on April 30.
