Passengers at Cambridge station can now enjoy a smarter, revitalised canopy after Greater Anglia invested £285,000 in a project to upgrade and refurbish the platform canopies.
200 new polycarbonate glazing panels have been installed along the entire length of the canopies over platforms 1 and 4 at the station. This will bring more light to the platforms, while ensuring a welcoming and comfortable environment for passengers at Cambridge station.
The work, which took place over three days from 27 to 30 December 2024, replaced the original glazing that had reached the end of its life.
The new glazing will ensure that the canopies remain watertight while sheltering the platforms and passengers from the weather.
Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, Simone Bailey, said:
“Keeping our stations in excellent condition is very important to us and helps us to meet the high standards of service our customers expect."
“The work at Cambridge has made a huge difference to the look and feel of the platforms and ensures that canopies will continue to shelter the platforms and our passengers effectively for years to come.”
