New Digital Railway MD to give evidence on rail technology to MPs
The newly appointed manging director of the Digital Railway programme, David Waboso, will appear before the Transport Select Committee on Monday as part of an inquiry into rail technology.
The committee will question Waboso, Claire Perry MP, the minister for rail, and Brian Etheridge, the director for network services at the Department for Transport, about how they will lead on the deployment of technology to improve rail network capacity.
Waboso was appointed to the digital railway post in March after serving as capital programmes director at London Underground, but only recently took up the position.
The committee is conducting ongoing inquiries into key rail issues, including rail franchising and passenger experience as well as rail technology and digital railway.
In another recent Transport Select Committee hearing, senior representatives of Arriva and South West said that they wanted greater involvement in the implementation of the digital railway.
RTM will provide full coverage of the hearing on Monday.
