Develop Training Ltd offers new fully funded permanent way programme
Develop Training Ltd has just announced a new, 10 week permanent way foundation qualification. Funding is provided by the Learning Skills Council and the programme is available at no cost to participants who meet certain criteria.
The benefit to both candidates and to the industry is clear. ‘We see this as one of the best ways to get people into the system with real, valuable skills that help address the skilled labour shortage,’ says Roger Godfrey, Develop’s director of transportation. The ability to apply a Foundation Modern Apprentice model is proving very popular within the industry.
The foundation training package is comprehensive in its scope covering PTS, track induction and various plant competencies as well, such as use of rail drills, rail saws, ballast packers, impact wrenches and generators. It has been set up to meet industry National Occupational Standards. In addition, successful candidates receive relevant NVQ qualifications. There are currently a number of places still available and applicants are encouraged to contact Develop Training directly.
