Rail smart card launched in Ireland
A smartcard system which resembles London’s Oyster card has been launched by Translink in Ireland.
Customers are able to obtain a smart card for free until the end of the year, where after they will cost £1.50.
The card can be filled up at a variety of outlets and is split up into three zones, which determine which services a user can use, much like London travel passes for certain zones.
Prices for use of different services ranges from five pounds a day up to fifteen pounds for the day, depending on where you want to go and which services you use.
Chief executive Catherine Mason said: “It is easy to use and can be topped up again and again at one of our designated sales outlets.”
