Birmingham job drive for HS2 specialist roles to be held next week
A recruitment drive for more than 100 specialist jobs on the HS2 project will begin next week in Birmingham, where its HQ is now based.
HS2 Ltd staff will be in the city on Thursday and Friday (17 and 18 September) to discuss the range of opportunities available across civil, rail and site engineering, project management, procurement and contract management, health and safety management, accountancy, law, HR and IT.
Simon Kirby, HS2 Ltd chief executive, and a keynote speaker at RTM’s upcoming TransCityRail North event in Manchester, said: “HS2 will demand a wide range of skills across a broad range of areas, as the project develops from planning and design through to construction.
“Getting the right people with the right skills and experience is vital to HS2’s success which is why we are recruiting now for a wide variety of specialist roles based in Birmingham, at the heart of the HS2 network.”
Transport minister Lord Ahmad said HS2 will have a “transformational effect” on supporting countrywide growth through increased connectivity.
He added: “The start of this recruitment drive is a fantastic opportunity for people in Birmingham and the rest of the country to become part of delivering this vital railway. It also shows how HS2 is already starting to create jobs across the UK, helping to rebalance our economy.”
Only registered attendees who have emailed [email protected] will be able to attend the events.
